RMEs first preamp for audio networks
12 transparent mic preamp for exceptional audio fidelity
MADI and ADAT for maximum flexibility
Two redundant network ports
SteadyClock FS

RME's first preamp for audio networks. The RME 12Mic is a 2-channel microphone preamp which can be digitally controlled via AVB and MADI connectivity.12Mic provides you with twelve transparent mic preamps for exceptional conversion performance. The onboard MADI and ADAT connectivity allow you to connect a wide range of gear. The three optical ADAT outputs provide you with up to 24 channels of audio at single speed or 12 output channels at 96kHz sample rate. You can also daisy-chain multiple units for maxim flexibility.

The versatile preamp features an AVB device complete with two fully redundant network ports for maximum security. Any signal inputting to the 12Mic can be routed and streamed over a network with a fixed latency.

A preamp for audio networks
The RME 12Mic features twelve microphone and line level inputs with studio-grade digital conversion, remote controllable gains; integrated MADI and AVB connectivity. This, plus a range of intuitive features make the preamp perfect for any professional recording setup.

Transparent microphone preamps
The PAD-free microphone input stages provide 75dB gain range and accept signal up to +18 dBu. This is suitable for sources with varying loudness levels. All twelve front-facing XLR connections accept microphone and line-level signals, while the first four connections also accepting TRS connectors, with switchable high impedance (Hi-Z) for instruments.

MADI and ADAT connectivity
Both coaxial and optical (via an SFP module) MADI I/O is available for independent or redundant operation. This allows for daisy-chaining, merging and converting MADI signals at incredibly low latency. The RME 12Mic also provides three optical ADAT outputs to deliver up to 24 channels of audio at single speed or 12 output channels at 96 kHz sampling rate. This ensures compatibility with a range of audio equipment, helping the 12Mic integrate with your current studio setup. Additionally, the ADAT ports can be used to send monitor mixes from the AVB or MADI inputs to existing DACs/headphone amps.

Two fully redundant network ports
The RME 12Mic comes with two fully redundant network ports, based on the recommendations of MILAN. The RME AVB Core, utilised within the 12Mic, implements IEEE standards for audio- streaming, discovery and control. This ensures that the preamp can be fully controlled via any AVB controller. Any signal reaching the 12Mic can be routed and streamed over a network with fixed latency and guaranteed bandwidth.

Plug and play connectivity
All device features are controllable via the interactive front panel. The device can also be controlled remotely via a web-interface on a network link (including Wi-Fi). This allows for the creation of gain groups, phantom power switching, and routing of signals to headphones for monitoring. The interactive routing design allows for quick routing of analog inputs to various outputs. Due to this, signal, clocking and connectivity issues become a thing of the past!

Pro level performance with SteadyClock FS
The clock frequency is a crucial component in digital audio, creating a correlation between the audio bits and the time reference. One key feature to the 12Mic preamp is the SteadyClock FS. This utilises the same circuity as RME’s ADI-2 Pro, providing the lowest jitter and higher jitter immunity. This contributes to you hearing your mix as accurately as possible in all clock modes. Across all RME products, digital format conversion is achieved without any degradation. Combined with SteadyClock FS, this results in recordings with more depth and clarity thanks to no audio loss in the recording process.
